In the early days, when I produced all my own products, except for supplies that I bought in bulk, some of which I resold, being a craftsman was the attraction for my customers. And then when I closed down, only to re-emerge as a seller of imported products, I wanted to appear larger than my company really was. Part of it I think was to appear trustworthy. But now that I am a full-time entrepreneur, and stay at home and am accessible by the phone, I have found people really appreciate my one on one availability. They like to pick up the phone and talk to the man himself. And I think they appreciate me being somewhat hokey. I don't mean hee-haw hokey, but willing to bend over backwards for them, if they are a little demanding, I can accommodate that, I can follow through, check back.
Never, never be afraid to provide what your customers want, even if it is a little attention.
